About Merry

Merry is the main character in "Magical Warrior Squad". She has a special storm/thunder amulet that turns her into "Stormy Flash", a superhero who can run fast and teleport using swords. But in her regular life, she's just a high school student at Brightmoon Academy. Merry is very smart, determined, and full of energy. She sometimes has difficulty showing her true feelings, being herself, or dealing with abandonment properly. She's working on it though. Performing in the plays at school allows her to discover her true self and to develop confidence, as well as grow closer to her family who was her main support system. She dreamed of being a celebrity someday.

When she was young, she and her older sister Ember were sent to a foster home after their parents divorced and their mother disappeared. Her absence incited worry and rumors to rise at the ancient temple. Eventually, an anonymous informant reported the situation to the authorities, and the girls were sent to an orphanage.

When they were together, her older sister made sure she was always safe and protected no matter what. They stuck together through thick and thin, mainly when they lived in the orphanage. Ember was always there for her and even taught her how to have fun while keeping her away from bullies. Kids would take advantage of Merry's non-confrontational nature and pick on her.

That is until one faithful day. Ember was tired of waiting, and she wanted to leave the orphanage even at the cost of leaving her sister Merry behind. Staying there for another day was too much for her to bear. She made the hard choice to leave Merry and go on her own to find their father and move on to a better life. The pain of saying goodbye was almost too much for both, but Ember knew it had to be done.

As time went by, Ember still hadn't returned, leaving Merry feeling hurt, betrayed, and scared. She felt vulnerable when she had to stand up against the bullies on her own who teased her about her sister leaving her behind. Words like “loner" and "crybaby" stuck with her for a long time. But then, a guardian named Kazuhiro, appeared in disguise. He was an older man who came to find the two girls and to help them fulfill their destiny.

At the time of meeting him, Ember was still missing. To help Merry find her sister, he proposed a deal: he would do everything he could to find Ember, but Merry would have to agree to be trained as his apprentice and to follow his guidance until Ember was found. Eventually, the man legally adopted Merry and raised her as his child. He focused on teaching Merry acrobatic skills and building her confidence, intending to make her stronger until it was time for her to fight for what was right on her own.
